“I have a confession to make. I once committed the worst crime a Melbournian can commit. I switched footy teams.”

The Moth (themoth.org) is a monthly storytelling competition held across America and in the UK and Melbourne. You put your name in the hat. Ten storytellers are chosen at random. You have five minutes to tell a true story about yourself without notes on the theme of the month.

If the judges choose your story as the best on the night (and this is a somewhat random process) you get to tell a new story at a Grand Slam. Again, ten speakers telling true stories for five minutes without notes. This time in a big theatre.

This is a recording of me at The Moth Grand Slam in Melbourne, Australia in July 2025. The theme was “Should Have Known.” The venue was The National Theatre, St Kilda. The audience was around 750 people.
