The Moth (themoth.org) is a monthly storytelling competition held across America and in London and Melbourne. You put your name in the hat. Ten storytellers are chosen at random. You have five minutes to tell a true story about yourself without notes on the theme of the month.

If the judges choose your story as the best on the night (and this is a somewhat random process) you get to tell a new story at a Grand Slam. Again, ten speakers telling true stories for five minutes without notes. This time in a big theatre with an audience of 600+

This is a recording of me at The Moth Grand Slam in Portland, Oregon in October 2023. The theme was “Breaking Ground.” The venue was The Aladdin Theater.
